SENER Foundation has awarded the Prize for Best PhD dissertation on an official ceremony held in its offices of Madrid (Spain) where Jonathan Albo Sánchez, Doctor in 2012 from the University of Cantabria has been recognized presenting the thesis entitled Development of an innovative technology for climate change mitigation: non-dispersive absorption with ionic liquids.
Likewise, the Professor Dr. Ángel Irabien Gulías, the Phd dissertation supervisor, has been awarded and so has been the winning thesis with a prize of 12,000 euros for the author and 3,000 euros for the supervisor.
During the award ceremony, SENER’s Foundation President, Dr. Enrique de Sendagorta Aramburu, highlighted “the importance of promoting research and innovation among youths and the university world, something SENER has been doing since its beginnings through its relationships with several universities and the participation of the professionals at SENER in different educational programs within the institutions”.
On his part, SENER’s Foundation Director, Dr. Juan Seijas, highlighted “the scientific rigor of the thesis of Doctor Albo and how some of the characteristics most appreciated by SENER in their own engineering works are contained in this dissertation, that is to say, the originality, and international recognition”.
SENER’s President, Dr. Jorge Sendagorta, outlined “the difficulty found by the jury of the Foundation to finally choose the winning PhD dissertation due to the quality of all the works”.
Lastly, the award-winner, Dr. Jonathan Albo, expressed his gratitude, to both SENER Foundation for the award and for incentivizing research among students, and his PhD dissertation advisor, Professor Dr. Angel Irabien, for his support.
SENER Foundation launched the first call for the Best PhD dissertation in October 2012, aiming to stimulate research at the highest level in the scientific and technological areas, in which SENER develops its activity.
