The SENER Foundation, set up in 2002 by SENER Grupo de Ingenieria and the Sendagorta family, is announcing the first phase of the SENER Foundation awards for Best Doctoral Thesis, with the goal of encouraging research at the highest level within SENER’S scientific and technological areas of operation.

The award will be held annually and is aimed at candidates who have obtained doctoral degrees from European universities in areas of study related to SENER (Aerospace, Civil, Power and Process and Marine), awarded in the same year as the prizes are called.

Candidates for the award will have until 1:30 pm on December 21, 2012 to submit their proposals, which will in turn be evaluated by university professors from relevant scientific/technological fields, doctoral degree holders who are members of SENER’s technical staff, trustees of the SENER Foundation with doctoral degrees, and the director and secretary of the SENER Foundation.

The jury will evaluate all submitted dissertations based on criteria including the relevance and applicability of the research to the scientific/technological areas of interest, the quality of the content’s structure, and the impact of this research in scientific media.

The decision will be revealed in the first quarter of 2013 and prizes will be awarded during a private ceremony to be held in April 2013. The author of the winning dissertation will be awarded €12,000, while his or her supervisor(s) will receive €3,000 in addition.
